Every first Saturday of the month, Home Depot offers a free Kids Workshop from 9-12 PM, targeted for kids between 5-12 years of age but exceptions are made. We've made it to a handful of these workshops, of which Leyton has built an airplane, memory box, art caddy and football step stool. Today was the first time that Lincoln was able to also participate in the workshop. The project this month was planter boxes.
If you haven't heard about this workshop and you have kids, you should definitely check it out. Each child receives a complete kit with nails and instructions included. They also receive a work apron and a pin of which ever project they are completing that day. For the serious workshop attenders, you can collect the pins and wear them proudly on your apron every month. Most of the kits are pretty easy but definitely provides some fun and challenge for the little ones to put together. For kids the age of our boys, you (the adult) definitely line up the pieces and put the nail in place and let them bang away with a hammer (provided by Home Depot). This week's project had nail holes prepared in advance that really made it easy to nail the project together. The kids love putting the projects together and Leyton looks forward to the workshop every month now. Kudos to Home Depot for providing such a wonderful experience for the kids and obviously recruiting and establishing future customers!
