It was another day of sharing for Leyton at his Prospect Preschool. Today he shared something that began with the letter I. As you can see if you read the last blog about when he shared the letter U, he's gotten some tough letters to share. We racked our brains to think of something cool that he could share and the best we could think of was to bring the movie "Ice Age." Until this morning, like a light went off in Mommy's head... as she was thinking about the boys bug birthday party coming up in June... INSECTS! Duuuhhhh! Of course we have plenty of insect items laying around, not only because that is one of the boys fascinations lately, but also in preparation for their birthday party (yes, Mommy does start planning way ahead of time).
So Leyton brought a plastic jar filled with large plastic bugs (preying mantis, ladybug, grasshopper and bumble bee). He also brought a book by Dr. Seuss called "On Beyond Bugs: All About Insects," and it takes you on an investigation of the world of insects. This book is a part of a special learning series and if you haven't got one for your young kids, you should get them, highly recommend it. They are factual books about many different topics but are told in a fun "Dr. Seuss" way that makes it interesting and amusing for the kids to hear. It just so happens that this semester, the class has been learning about insects and gardening, so the kids were pretty excited to see the big bugs. That's all the sharing he'll have at this school this year and we're glad that it was a hit with the kids. And it's a good reminder and warm-up for their bug party in early June!
